It is more often than not we face difficulties when nothing goes right for us. It can be caused often by many things that we do not know or have control over, or even as simple as things do not go right for whatever reasons.

Life is full of challenges and opportunities. It’s just that sometimes the situation can be difficult, and you can get caught in a situation where you may not know how to make the right choice to move forward. The only way to learn this is by experiencing it, and when nothing goes right go left, one must understand that there is more than one way to skin a cat. Understanding your options will help you overcome and face the challenges ahead.

In this article, I’m going to show you a simple process for dealing with these situations. It can be used by anyone, no matter where they are in life, for motivation. So if you want to stay positive, remain focused, and continue to grow in life, then read on…

What does when nothing goes right go left mean

The quote “When nothing goes right, go left” meant that a person is in a difficult situation but not giving up. Meaning when things do not go as planned, there is always a way to get through them and live a better life which is why there is a go left from the original quote of going right.

If you do not weigh or evaluate your options carefully, you might end up doing things that you regret later on. That’s why it’s better to understand the option you have and take them when they come because they can be good, bad, or indifferent; that’s why we say that there are options to every problem.

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade

It can be frustrating when you put in lots of hard work, and end of the day, things do not go the way you want. The thing here is that when it is not going right for you, it would also mean that the thing had actually happened, and you are already in a situation where decisions have to be made, whether it is right or wrong.

Instead of staying stagnant, feeling sorry for yourself, waiting for the next opportunity to arise when nothing goes right, take a different perspective and use this time to plan a new way on what you need to do next or create an opportunity for yourself by turning your negative situation into a positive one by going left.

The truth is that you are the only person who will make a difference in the situation, so feeling dejected is not going to help.

What should you do when nothing goes right?

When things do not go right, you can easily feel frustrated and discouraged. The more things don’t go right, the harder it is to cope with this feeling of disappointment. When you are disappointed in yourself, it can make you feel even worse. You may be wondering how this could happen?

You need to make peace with yourself and stop blaming yourself or anyone, take a step back and review the situation and see what changes can be made to work for you instead.

You are not the only one

Everyone has problems, and I like to call it “The little joy in our life” on how we should be living as human beings. If everything is smooth sailing and there is nothing on your plate, how can this be living? You will be stagnant and run short of motivation and inspiration because there are no challenges, and you know everything will be perfect. Life would be simply monotonous, and it is simply not true!

Thanks to the way life are given to us, nothing goes right happens to every single one of us at some point in life. Regardless of what we do daily, things that will go wrong will happen. You can be sure that hundreds and millions of others are going through the pain and frustrations you are having. So don’t think that it is just you.

To further prove my point here, Oprah gave a speech at Harvard 2013 commencement ceremonies talking about her personal failure.

“At some point, you are bound to stumble. You will at some point fall, and when you do, I want you to remember this—There is no such thing as failure; failure is just life trying to move us in another direction.”

Oprah Winfrey

Stay Focus on the issue

It’s easy to get caught up in the negative things that happen in life. However, it is just as important to take a breather and let go of some negativity. Remember, you cannot change the situation or your life overnight. If you are constantly stressing over something, chances are it will continue to be a problem. Instead of focusing on all the bad things that happen to you, concentrate on the positive things and love your life.

Staying positive is key

When nothing is going right, try to step back and think about the bigger picture. Take a moment to look at things from a different perspective. It is important to keep a positive attitude towards yourself and your health. It means taking care of yourself and staying healthy. For example, make sure you eat well, get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and be kind to yourself.

If you are feeling down or frustrated, it is important to keep busy. It can be as simple as reading a book, watching a movie, or even reading inspirational quotes online to seek inspiration. You may discover that there is more than one way out of the situation, and change will come in time if you remain patient and optimistic.

Let loose and trust the process

We cannot control everything; there are times and places where you have to accept the things you cannot change. Meaning to say, the best thing you can do is focus on what you can control. The process means accepting the reality of your circumstances and focusing on what you can change. Setbacks are a normal part of life, and the key is to know how to deal with them. When you are feeling down, it is important to remember that there are many things you can do to help yourself feel better, such as speaking to another person or even seeking inspiration through others.

When facing adversity, be adaptable

Life doesn’t always go as planned. When nothing goes right, it can disrupt our momentum and throw us off course. But life also throws curveballs, so you have to learn how to build resilience in the face of adversity.

Take some time to step back and see how you can better adapt to unexpected situations. Learn from your mistakes; writing them down helps provide you with a reminder of the mistakes. No one likes to admit that they are wrong, but learning from your mistakes will help you get back on track.

You can learn a lot from an experience that went wrong, even if you don’t like the outcome. Don’t waste time overthinking about things you can’t control. Don’t sweat the small stuff. What’s done is done, so focus on what you can control: the present and the future.

You have to be flexible. You can’t plan everything out in advance. When things don’t go as planned, you have to roll with it. Sometimes that means changing course, but that’s OK. If you have a clear goal in mind, you can always return to your original plan and keep moving toward your goal.

7 evaluation steps when nothing goes right

What do you do when nothing goes right, go left!

Well, first of all, I would like to say that the first thing you should do is accept that nothing is going right and you need to make the best out of the cards you were dealt.

If you are sure that you have already done everything possible to make things right, you may need to consider whether or not it is worth continuing the endeavour. It is not saying you should give up easily, but one should also be realistic and weigh their options and resources. There are times when we spend a lot of time and energy on things that we have no hope of succeeding. If this is the case with you, you need to be honest with yourself and admit it.

The intention is not to give up but give yourself a new opportunity and restart again, take time to move on, evaluate your vision and directions. This state is a great opportunity because it provides an ideal circumstance to re-evaluate your whole strategy for reaching the desired outcome that you have been working so hard for. When nothing happens right, learn to have no doubt and have faith in yourself that you can work out with other available options.

The most important thing when nothing goes right go left is a proper mindset to step back and evaluate the situation with these steps to help yourself explore other possible options.

Take a step back

It’s time to “reset” and give yourself a strategic break. It is a mental “reset” that helps you refresh your brain and be more productive. You could be overwhelmed with so many things that you overlook your options which can cloud your judgment.

While sometimes, certain things do not offer you the luxury to sit back and relax, take a short breather and calm yourself down before making any impulse decisions.Have a glass of water, breathe and sit down and allow yourself to calm down as your priority.

What is wrong with the situation

You must first recognize the problem, which may or may not be you.

  • Did you plan and read the situation?
  • Did you anticipate the consequences of your decisions?
  • Could you have done better with other options?

The list goes on and on, but understand that there are factors that you cannot control. So this is your first assessment step on how to overcome the issue at hand. The current situation of nothing going right requires your acceptance of the current situation you have gotten yourself into. You must access what is wrong to prepare a countermeasure or alternative option.

Can I still amends

Once you identify what went wrong, you will need to access the situation if it is still within recovery possibilities.

  • Is the situation still within possible amends?
  • How did I let this happen?
  • What were my expectations going into the situation?
  • Did I over-expect the outcome?

Recognizing any missed opportunities, you will realize what was missing and include “pre-emption” if applicable. It is time to take stock of the situation and evaluate if you can do anything to make things right.

If this is not the case, you may need to plan a new way on what you need to do next or create an opportunity for yourself by turning your negative situation into a positive one. In addition to recognizing the problems and evaluating if amends are still possible, you should also ask yourself.

  • Did I put in the proper effort?
  • Are there areas where I could have done better?
  • Is there something that I could change to avoid a similar problem in the future?

These questions may help you find answers to the question of why nothing went right and what you can do to make sure it does not happen again. It is also important to recognize that it is not always easy to avoid happening again, but there are always options to work around it.

Weighing your options

You must understand that you should not be limited to a single alternative or option. Think of all the possible options. Look at what other possibilities are available and how you can work with or around them.

  • How can I overcome this situation?
  • Are there better options that I may have overlooked?
  • Is this the only way?
  • What are the benefits of this alternative?

Background research will help guide you on ways to get over obstacles and how will it help you achieve what you wanted to do in the first place. Whether it is worth the effort, or are you better off doing something else instead?

Mindset determines your progress

It can be disheartening to see your efforts go down the drain, and for some, moving forward can be tough. The most important part here would be your mindset and the positivism that encourages you to step forward. You need to believe in yourself to make the correct call. The feeling may sometimes be frustrating or even complicated times, and it is your positive approach at this moment that is the most crucial to help you move forward.

Work with a timeline

While it is great to rest and have new energy and positive output in the options, but you cannot be going on this non-stop. Be realistic if you know you have given your best to work the situation and exhausted all possible options that you may have. Should the situation deteriorate, you need to give yourself a cutoff time where you need to accept and be realistic that you failed.

Accept the outcome

Failure is part of a learning experience. For one to achieve success, failure should be accepted as lessons, and that it will make you stronger and wiser. The best thing that one can do is learn from their mistakes, and if you cannot learn from your mistakes, then it is time to change your ways. Accepting failure will help you in your future endeavours and help you become a better person in achieving your future success.

Final thoughts on when nothing goes right go left

There is a saying, “The time is always right to do what is right.”

People who do not recognize the impact of when things go wrong in life often believe they are always responsible for their failures. As a result, they become depressed and lose their focus on achieving success. When you think about it, when you come to the end of the pathway where you have no more access, you will look for options to either proceed to retreat. The truth is that we all experience this, it is how we deal with it that makes us successful or not.
